As a college application consultant who helps Chinese students get into American universities, I will give you my perspective.
Assuming you have the resources to finance studying abroad, earlier is better. American universities have easier admissions standards for students who go to high school in America, even if they are foreign citizens. This is because Chinese curriculums are quite different from American curriculums, even in International high schools in China. In addition, by studying in America at an early age, Chinese students rapidly develop their English skills which is extremely important for both college admissions and the post-graduate career search.
If you don’t have the resources to send your child to America for high school, sending them for college is effective as well. Statistically, going to an American rather than Chinese college will almost certainly increase their future career prospects.
