引导从句时用的 in which, by which, of which (介词 + which) 等究竟什么意思，一直搞不明白，谁能简单地讲解一下，谢谢。

理解定语从句，最好的办法是把从句变成一个完整的句子。
the room in which he used to live
->He used to live in the room.
the story in which you will be interested
->You will be interested in the story.
...women, one of which was a musician
-> One of them (the women) was a musician.
the film from which the music comes
->The music comes from the film.
the way in which we tell those stories
->We tell those stories in the way.

引导从句时用的 in which, by which, of which (介词 + which)中的which是关系代词，起连接主句与从句的作用。which代替主句中被修饰限定的先行词。
He had to surrender the watches to the police in which the heroin was hidden。which代替thewatches。；
上面的一句话是由下面两句话组成的：
He had to surrender the watches to the police.
The heroin was hidden in the watches.
在第二句里the watches 做介词in的宾语。所以合成一个复合句时就是上面句子的样子。
He had to surrender the watches to the police in which the heroin was hidden. 中的介词in也可以放在句子末尾，就是下面的句子。
He had to surrender the watches to the police which the heroin was hidden in.
